Weekly Market Outlook January 17, 2016

Weekly Market Outlook:
Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland – Emotional investing takes possession of the global markets. Price trends determine investors’ peace of mind while they lose sight of the fundamentals. Emotional investing is a simple investment strategy in which businesses’ intrinsic value is completely ignored by large numbers of people. From a fundamental point of view, there is no evidence to justify a correction or recession. In addition, we note that the decline in oil prices last week seems impressive in percentage, but in real money it does not mean much; emotion also plays a significant role here.

The coming week is all about business figures. Chinese macro data, in particular, will be studied with a magnifying glass. Our focus will be on the U.S. figures. On Monday, the U.S. stock markets are closed. Below are the Total Real Return Indexes since 1802 (source: www.aaii.com); you can draw your own conclusion.
